Mukim Liang Scout Troop's day out in the paddy field

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Mukim Liang Scout Troop 3030 of Kampong Sungai Lalit, Lumut participated in a paddy harvesting ceremony yesterday at the paddy plantation belonging to one of the troop members, Awang Jos bin Radin.

Leading the harvesting ceremony was Awang Jayah bin Hj Dullah, Special Duties Officer of Brunei Scout Association. Present as the chief guest during the "mengetam" ceremony was Pehin Dato Hj Mohd Ali bin Hj Awg Daud, President of Brunei Darussalam Scout Association.

According to skipper Jayah bin Hj Dullah, the activity was aimed at giving a helping hand to the farmers during harvest time. It was also to expose the scout committee members to community work.

This has been an annual activity for the scout troop. Awang Jos said he planted paddy just to fill his free time. By making himself "busy" looking after his paddy field helps him to channel his energy for a good cause.

He thanked the Brunei government through the Agricultural Department for helping him and other farmers by providing some of the necessities in paddy planting.
